Despite coming from a prominent Bollywood family, Tina has kept a relatively low profile and is known for her humble and grounded personality. However, she has been a part of ADs and films earlier. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Tina Ahuja opens up on the controversy between David Dhawan and her father Govinda during her debut.
Tina Ahuja on controversy between David Dhawan and Govinda
When asked about the controversy between David Dhawan and Govinda during her debut, Tina Ahuja said, “Interesting, but honestly, I felt like—why should they? Why should it be like… In short, no one has taken on the responsibility of giving me a break. And why should they? If they felt there was something that would be right for me, they would have done it. It’s not about that. What I feel is that you cannot be dependent on others all the time.”
She added, “And to be very honest, I don’t even think about these things. I’ve never thought, ‘Oh, they should have launched me.’ No, I mean kisine mera thekha nahi lekar rakha hai. At any given time, I just do what I feel is the best for me. That’s what I’ve learned from my dad—never be dependent on anybody. You cannot be a cranky child at all.”
Govinda- David Dhawan controversy
Govinda and David Dhawan’s last film was the 2009 comedy Do Knot Disturb. Post that, Dhawan went on to direct five more feature films, none starring Govinda. In 2015, Govinda announced that he had distanced himself from his longtime collaborator Dhawan. “No, I don’t want to work with David Dhawan as he didn’t stand by me during my bad patch,” quoted by Times of India. A year before this, Govinda had even released a statement against David Dhawan, detailing why he was miffed with the filmmaker and revealed that he had given Dhawan the idea to make Chashme Baddoor (2013) back in 2009. But David went ahead and cast Rishi Kapoor instead.
